He makes me laugh.
I find it somewhat humorous, that just a few hours after I published my previous post, I dropped my 3 day old iPhone while crossing a street, continued on home five blocks from where I dropped it, to finally realize I didn’t have it with me anymore.
I sprinted out of my apartment and raced to cover my steps, relieved to find it in the middle of a busy road, lying in a puddle. Of course, when I picked it up, the entire face was cracked like a shattered glass window, and it was evident there was water damage.
After a bit of research, I learned that it would probably cost me around $250 to have the glass replaced, and I had no idea what would happen in regards to the water damage.
I spent a little bit of time in prayer, knowing that I just had to thank God for teaching me humility. I laughed a bit, wondering if God had maybe lightly flicked my phone out of my hand, and said, ‘Alison, remember, I’m a jealous God and you should not idolize anything of this world!’.
I know that may sound a bit far-fetched, but to be honest I wouldn’t put it past Him!
All in all, I decided (with the support of a significant other) to put on a smile, and prepared myself to pay what I had to pay. I made a plan, and kept a positive attitude.
After visiting my phone carrier, and then the Apple store, I ended up walking away with a brand new iPhone, completely free of charge. I didn’t have to put on a show or fib a little, I was honest, and happy to be honest, and I was well taken care of.
Needless to say—I’ve learned my lesson! Things of this world are frail, and can be lost or broken at any moment. Put your faith in God, and you’ll continue to have everlasting joy in your life, and freedom to feel that joy at every given moment.
